DSCallards Support Local Chamber of Commerce at IT Conference

May 2, 2008 - DSCallards Ltd demonstrated their support for the local community and exhibited at Plymouth Chamber of Commerce's Conference, "Advance IT - Making the Connection", on Thursday 1st May 2008.

The Conference, sponsored by Microsoft and BT, was the first of its kind run by Plymouth Chamber of Commerce to assess where Plymouth is leading in Information Technology and where it could do more.

David Parlby, Chief Executive, said, "We already have businesses and organisations involved in the cutting edge of IT and we have some exciting developments coming out of Plymouth University, but there is much more that we can do. This Conference will set us on the road to becoming even better in this field".

Stephen Uden, Head of Skills and Economic Affairs, Microsoft Ltd, gave a presentation entitled, "IT Skills and the Knowledge Economy", which illustrated how Microsoft are working with local communities and the Regional Development Agency to raise awareness of how IT can help the enterprise bring real added value.

The Conference also showcased the city's leading businesses, such as Two Four Productions and Plymouth Marine Laboratories and their use of hi-tech IT technologies. A series of workshops were held in the afternoon covering areas such as 'Web Marketing' and 'Knowledge Transfer' and calls for action were taken by the Chamber to ensure that the momentum of IT adoption in Plymouth continued into the future across the board.

As well as contributing to the workshops, DSCallards exhibited their world-leading products including Business Objects Crystal Reports 2008, LEADTOOLS and HiT Software.
