PROFILE

Ray is a multi-talented individual with many strings to his bow.  After several early years in the music business, followed by a seven-year period as part-owner of a lithographics company, Ray’s interest in computers began nearly three decades ago!

BACKGROUND

In 1985, after qualifying as a Systems Analyst and spending time at Exeter University studying electronics and digital interfaces, Ray joined the technical team at Grey Matter (Devon-based providers of independent software supply, management and know-how), specialising in programming languages and software development tools.

In 1996 Ray joined Business Intelligence specialists, Contemporary, as Technical Director, based upon his extensive experience in the development tools market.

In 2001, Ray was instrumental in purchasing the Technical Services Division of Contemporary with Adrian Handley and setting up Developer Solutions.  As a result of Developer Solutions success, six years later Ray and Adrian acquired Callards plc, resulting in DSCallards.

Since then, Ray has been responsible for setting up and now managing the Business Intelligence (BI) Services Team, which has grown exponentially over the last five years.

Ray’s strengths lie in his ability to talk through and understand a customer’s problem and in working together to deliver the most effective solution.  At the same time, Ray also enjoys understanding the technologies and still insists on getting involved at the technical level.

HOBBIES AND INTERESTS

Ray has a passion for music (both playing and listening) and enjoys computers, reading and travelling.
